These dogs are trained to be non-scent specific search dogs which means they are searching for any human scent. They work independently off leash. When they locate a person, they will return to the handler and report the find by doing a trained response. The dog will return to the person with the handler.
Trailing dogs follow the scent of a specific person. Skin particles that fall to the ground or onto bushes leave a trail for dogs to follow. Our dogs work through any type of terrain. A good scent article and a point where the person was last seen can be the fastest way to find a lost perosn or victim.
A cadaver dog is a special type of search canine which has been trained to search for human remains. Rescue crews can identify the location of the deceased in disaster areas and our teams can be used by crime units to find areas where a cadaver might have been buried or stored. These canines are very useful additions to police units lacking readily available specialty canine resources.
